Both Mathis and Vesper seemed to be James’ biggest assets as they helped him throughout his battles with the other side (as well with his own personal battles), but unfortunately the opposite is true as they both betrayed him badly. Hence, the design tries to convey the message that betrayal comes forth out of different motives; whether that is love, money, respect or power, the effect remains the same.

Therefore, the design features not only exactly and literally features a double faced card, but it shows at the same time two different versions of the same person, strengthening the message we try to convey of people being double faced.
